Überblick : Der 17-jährige Sam Leonard ist neuer Schüler in der Abschlussklasse an der Bridgeport High School. Schon am ersten Schultag ist eines klar: Sam ist ein hoffnungsloser Außenseiter, ein Looser, eben alles andere als cool. Doch genau das ist sein sehnlichster Wunsch. Er will endlich beliebt sein und darf sich diese letzte Chance nicht entgehen lassen. Mit seinem schwerwiegenden Problem wendet er sich an den Vertrauenslehrer und der empfiehlt ihm doch glatt zu lügen! So verbreitet Sam stolz in der ganzen Schule, dass er einen Porsche fahre, sein Vater ein Rockstar sei und er ein guter Freund von sexy Hollywoodstar Carmen Electra. Doch dann plötzlich nach einer magischen Nacht werden all seine Lügen wahr. Unvorstellbar, aber wahr! Sogar seine “alte Bekannte” Carmen Electra taucht unverhofft auf einer Party auf, um Sam, dem neugeborenen Basketballstar, den Abend zu versüßen. Zu seinem Entsetzen jedoch stellt sich heraus, dass auch real gewordene Träume eine unerwartete Kehrseite haben.
